asked the Minister for Local Government whether he received proposals from the Dublin County Council in connection with an increase in the wages of the council's workers, and, if so, if he will state the nature of such proposals; further, if he will expedite sanction so that arrears of wages may be paid to the workmen concerned before Christmas.

The Dublin County Council's proposal for the payment of an increase of 8/6 per week in the wages of road and allied workers with effect from the 1st July, 1955, was sanctioned on the 5th December, 1955. I understand that the local authority are making arrangements to pay the increased wages before Christmas.
