Vol. 153 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Title to Donegal Fair Green.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that money allocated by the Donegal County Council for urgently needed repairs to Dunkineely Fair Green has been unexpended because the council is unable to show title to the grounds, and, if so, whether proof of squatter's title will satisfy his Department.

The acquisition of the property referred to does not require my sanction and my Department has not been consulted in the matter.

Mr. Brennan

Then the Minister states that the county manager has complete authority in this matter?

I refer the Deputy to Section 4 of the County Management Act, 1955, in which he will get the reply to his question.

Does the Minister not agree that if we apply Section 4, the decision is still subject to the sanction of the Minister?

There is no decision required in this case. I have no necessity to sanction the acquisition of land.

Mr. Brennan

Will the Minister state that if the county manager takes the action indicated the local government auditor will not surcharge him?

Sin ceist eile.

Mr. Brennan

Níl fhios agam.
