Vol. 154 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Accidents on Cork Road.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state, in respect of each of the last ten years, the number of fatal and non-fatal road accidents that occurred on and at the approaches to the Tivoli, Lower Glanmire Road, Cork, and what steps it is proposed to take to minimise the dangers to users of this road.

The figures asked for will, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, be circulated with the Official Report.

Patrols of the approaches to this road are carried out by Gardaí on foot, by bicycle and by car. It is hoped to have a Garda motor-cyclist on special traffic duties on this road in the immediate future. The road and its approaches appear to the Gardaí to be adequately sign-posted at all possible danger points. Widening of the road and cutting off bends, would make for greater safety, but these are matters for the local authority.
