Vol. 154 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Prison Sentence.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the sentence imposed by the District Justice for Limerick on a person [name supplied], the term of imprisonment served by that person and the reason for the remission of sentence.

In the case to which the Deputy refers, the prisoner was sentenced at Limerick District Court to six months' imprisonment and had served over ten weeks of his sentence when the balance was remitted on Christmas Eve. It is not the practice of the Minister for Justice to state the grounds for the remission of punishment in particular cases.
