asked the Taoiseach if he will furnish a return showing in respect of each of the years 1947 to 1954 inclusive (a) the inclusive price as delivered, per 20 stone barrel, paid for home-grown and imported wheat respectively, (b) the total quantity of wheat imported and the average price per barrel as delivered at the mills or at Irish ports, and (c) the total sum paid for all imported cereals, including the products thereof.

The information requested by the Deputy, in so far as it is available in the Central Statistics Office, is given in the table below.
The estimated prices paid for home-grown wheat have recently been revised in the light of additional information. The revisions for the years 1947-49 have not yet been completed and minor alterations in the figures given for these years may still have to be made.
(a) Average price per barrel paid to farmers (but including some element of agents' commission) by flour-millers for green home-grown millable wheat in each of the crop years 1947-1954.
