Vol. 154 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Limerick National Schools.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has yet arrived at a decision in regard to the proposal to erect new schools at Eyon and Kislekerk, County Limerick; if he will state the amount of the local contribution which will be required; whether, in view of the fact that both of the proposed schools will be located in the one parish and in view of the resultant financial hardship for the parishioners who will have to contribute towards the cost of both schools, he will allocate the maximum grant, and if he will convene a local conference between the divisional inspector and the interested parties.

The active inquiry and consultation to which I referred on the 1st December last in my reply to the Deputy on this issue are still proceeding and as they have not yet been completed I am unable to give the Deputy any information regarding the arrangements to be made for the replacement of the existing national schools at Eyon and Kislekerk. Every effort is being made as far as lies with my Department to bring the matter to a conclusion.
