Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Afforestation in Tipperary.
Since the 1st April, 1955, four areas totalling 335 acres have been acquired in North Tipperary for afforestation purposes. In addition, six offers totalling 442 acres have been accepted and the legal formalities are being completed and 61 further offers totalling about 4,600 acres are being investigated.
asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of County Tipperary (a) the acreage of land taken over for afforestation purposes during the current year, and (b) what offers have been accepted, indicating in each case (i) the total acreage, and (ii) the townland in which the land is situated.
With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I will circulate with the Official Report a table showing the particulars requested by the Deputy in respect of each area acquired in County Tipperary for afforestation purposes from 1st April, 1955, to date. The table also sets out particulars of offers which have been accepted by my Department and in respect of which title is being investigated. Briefly, the table shows that seven areas totalling 402 acres were acquired in the county since 1st April, 1955, and that, in addition, 14 offers totalling 758 acres have been accepted.
