Vol. 154 No. 5

Committee on Finance. - Vote 67—Repayments to Contingency Fund.

I move:—

That a sum not exceeding £737 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1956, for the repayment to the Contingency Fund of certain Miscellaneous Advances.

This is the usual Estimate that comes in at this time of the year every year. As the House knows, the Contingency Fund is kept at a figure of £20,000 and each year at this time we bring in this Supplementary Estimate for the purpose of replenishing the figure, so to speak. The Estimate shows that, of the amount now required, £638 Os. 6d. is in respect of stamp duty on deeds and other instruments required for the public services and £34 1s. 6d. in respect of stamp duty for foreign diplomatic representatives here, £9 in respect of bounty for triplets and £55 in respect of bounty for those who have reached the century.
