Vol. 154 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Collinstown Airport Lands—Lettings.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether tenders were invited recently for the letting of land at Collinstown Airport for tillage purposes and, if so, if he will state (a) the acreage involved, (b) the highest and lowest rent, per acre, offered, (c) the rent, per acre, accepted for letting for (i) wheat growing and (ii) other tillage purposes, (d) the price, per acre, at which the grassland is let, (e) the names of the persons to whom lettings have been given, and (f) whether the previous owners of the land were given a reasonable opportunity of obtaining the letting.

Tenders were invited by means of Press advertisement on 19th October, 1955, for the use of two lots of lands at Dublin Airport. One lot, within the boundaries of the flying field, contains 354 acres; the other lot, which adjoins the airport, contains 217 acres. The flying field lands were to be used only for the cutting and removal of grass and the outside lands for approved agricultural purposes. Three weeks were allowed for tenders and all persons interested had an opportunity to submit tenders.

The lands have been let at the highest rent offered for the area. The lessees are Provincial Crop Driers Limited, Cloghran, County Dublin, who have held lettings of these lands for some years.

It would be contrary to established practice to disclose the other information requested.
