Vol. 154 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo National School.

asked the Minister for Education whether it is proposed to erect a new national school at Doohoma or whether any alternative proposals have been decided on.

The reverend manager has intimated that he is in a position to acquire some additional ground for inclusion in the site of the present national school at Doohoma, County Mayo, in order to enable the school to be extended and the Commissioners of Public Works are investigating the feasibility of carrying out an extension scheme. My Department considers that the preferable course, if practicable, would be to provide the required extra accommodation at the present school, rather than, as has been proposed, to erect a second school to cater for children of school-going age in the Doohoma district.
