Vol. 154 No. 8

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1, 4, and in 5, Votes 27 and 69; and No. 6, as on the Order Paper.

Mr. Lemass

Can the Taoiseach say when the Book of Estimates will be circulated?

May I make it clear? I am afraid I made a mistake when I said to the Deputy next Wednesday. I was speaking of the presentation of the Book to the Government rather than to the Dáil. It will not be ready until the following week for the House.

What price accuracy now?

Mr. Lemass

Do I understand the Minister to say that the Vote on Account will not be asked for next week?

No, not until the following week.

Mr. Lemass

Can the Minister say when the Book of Estimates will be circulated to the House?

The end of next week.

Mr. Lemass

If, as I assume to be the case, the Vote on Account has to be taken and the Central Fund Bill passed by Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann before the end of March, the Government will want to take some of the lead out of their feet.

That is the accuracy they are talking about.

The Dáil will in fact have the Book earlier than it has had it on previous occasions.

May I ask if the way the business is ordered means that Vote 27 will be taken before Vote 69 is resumed?

That is as I understand it.

Yes, to give the Minister for Agriculture a chance of getting a meal.
