Vol. 155 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Electricity Charges.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that in the Inishowen area and other areas in County Donegal, which are now being supplied by the E.S.B., about 30 per cent. of the householders are being asked to pay special charges, and, if so, if he will ascertain from the E.S.B. the cause of such an unusually high percentage of special charges.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the number of householders asked to pay special charges in areas recently developed or being developed in County Donegal is much less than that suggested by the Deputy and is no greater than that in other areas of the country. I am also informed that the necessity for special charges is partly dependent on the percentage of acceptances in an area and tends to diminish as the percentage of acceptances increases.
