asked the Minister for Health if he will state the cost of extending, to those in receipt of up to £800 per annum, the benefits at present applicable under the Health Act to those in receipt of £600 or less per annum.

The information at present available as to the numbers of persons whose yearly means are between £600 and £800, and as to the extent to which such persons will be found to be eligible, as persons of the class referred to at Section 15 (2) (d) of the Health Act, 1953, to receive institutional, specialist and maternity services at the expense of health authorities, is not such as would enable me to estimate the cost of an extension of the services as envisaged by the Deputy.
