Vol. 159 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of the Suck.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is expected that work will begin on the arterial drainage scheme for the River Suck.

The field work of the survey of the River Suck catchment is still in progress. Following completion of the field work, a considerable time will be required for the plotting of the survey data and the preparation of the design of the scheme. Pending preparation of the scheme and compliance with the statutory requirements as regards exhibition and confirmation, it is not possible to say when actual works may be commenced.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary tell the House when the field work for this drainage scheme is likely to be completed?

Very soon.

I do not want to embarrass the Parliamentary Secretary but could he put a time on it in view of the fact that it was understood that the survey field work was completed six months ago?

In a month or two. I have much more interest in this scheme than the Deputy has.

I know that the Parliamentary Secretary has to cross the Suck pretty often.
