asked the Minister for Local Government if he will correlate the figures given on 25th October, 1956, regarding the total amount paid in respect of loans under the Small Dwellings (Acquisition) Acts in 1954-55 and 1955-56, with the figures given on 7th November, 1956, regarding amounts issued to local authorities for similar purposes in the same periods.

The figures furnished by me on 25th October, 1956, in reply to Deputy Briscoe relate to advances made by local authorities to borrowers in the two years 1954-55 and 1955-56 and include advances made from funds obtained from sources other than the Local Loans Fund while the figures furnished by the Minister for Finance on 7th November represent issues from the Local Loans Fund by the Commissioners of Public Works to local authorities.
