Vol. 161 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Minister for Finance (Dr. Ryan):

There are 46 import items in respect of which customs duty or Special Import Levy has been reduced or revoked since 20th March, 1955. Separate import statistics are not kept for most of these items and the task of extracting the import values from the relevant customs entry documents over the last two years would involve undue expense in these cases. In the case of some items—perhaps one-third or so of the total—import values for the two years could be obtained without much difficulty and if the Deputy wishes to have these I would ask him to repeat his question in a week's time when the information should be available. I should add that import values are on e.i.f. basis and f.o.b. values cannot be supplied.
