Vol. 161 No. 9

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Securities Issued to Public Since 1932.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the securities issued to the public since 1932, other than those to which Section 7 of the Finance Act, 1932, applies.

I am advised that the information sought has not been collectively recorded. An examination of the files in the Companies Registration Offices, Dublin Castle, would enable the information to be extracted in relation to share issues by companies but this would be a very lengthy process.

Surely the Minister had that information before him before he advised his colleague, the Minister for Finance, to amend the law as indicated in the Budget?

We were proceeding on general principles.

Surely the Minister is able to give the total number of securities involved and the amount of the nominal value represented?

The Deputy asked me for particulars of securities issued to the public since 1932 to which the Act does not apply.

Certainly, and the Minister has that information in his Department, 95 per cent. accurately, anyway. The Minister's predecessor had it. It is still in the Department.
