asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of County Galway the amount of the grants which he proposes to make available in the current financial year, under the heads (a) main road reconstruction, (b) county road reconstruction, and (c) tourist roads.

As I indicated when introducing the Estimate for my Department, the allocation of grants to local authorities for the current year will be maintained at the same amount as that allocated last year. The amount of the grants to Galway County Council will be (a) main road improvement, £75,800; (b) county road improvement, £144,000; (c) tourist road grant, £55,000. This allocation includes the interim allocation of £36,000 made on 11th February, 1957.
