asked the Taoiseach if he will state the quantity and value of cheese imports in 1955 and 1956.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cheese Imports.
Imports of cheese totalled 5,546 cwt. for £60,641 (c.i.f.) in 1955 and 1,690 cwt. for £28,112 (c.i.f.) in 1956.
Would the Taoiseach now consider prohibiting the import of cheese, remembering that the manufacture of cheese to supply the whole needs of our people, and possibly a surplus for export, will provide employment?
That, of course, is a separate question.
