Vol. 162 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Return on Capital in Flour Milling.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the Government have decided to accept the recommendation of the Flour and Bread Committee, 1956, that a rate of 11 per cent. should be adopted for the purpose of computing a fair rate of return on capital employed in the milling industry, or that of the Prices Commission, 1934, that a rate of 7½ per cent. should be adopted.

The recommendation of the Flour and Bread Committee to which the Deputy refers was related to the payment of subsidy. As payment of subsidy has been discontinued the recommendation does not call for a decision by the Government.
