Vol. 164 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trade Promotion Officials.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state the number, if any, of trade promotion officials attached to Irish embassies, legations, and consular offices abroad, and the countries to which they are accredited.

The work of all officials of our missions accredited to other countries is, to the greatest extent possible, directed to trade promotion according as their other responsibilities permit. The following are the numbers of officials concerned who are employed exclusively on such work, and the missions to which they are attached:— Great Britain, 5; France, 1; Federal Republic of Germany, 1.

The Deputy is probably aware that, in addition, Córas Tráchtála Teo. has its own representatives engaged fulltime on trade promotion work in the United States, Canada and Great Britain. The number of staff involved in each case is:—United States, 4; Canada, 2; Great Britain, 2.

In none of the foregoing cases is typing staff included in the figures given.
