Vol. 164 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rehousing of Kerry Farm Worker.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the date on which a farm worker (name supplied) at Beenenaspug, via Athea, County Kerry, applied to Kerry County Council to be considered for rehousing; (b) whether this man proposed for the purpose a local plot or site on the lands of a neighbouring land owner (name supplied), and, if so, the date on which the plot was inspected by (i) the council's housing engineer, and (ii) the county medical officer; (c) whether the proposed plot was regarded as being suitable by both officers, and, if not, which officer rejected it, and for what reason precisely; (d) the reason for the undue delay on the part of the local authority in giving a decision on this matter; and (e) whether the person concerned is eligible for rehousing, and, if so, when and where it is proposed to rehouse him and his family.

Sites for isolated rural cottages, when obtained by agreement, are acquired by housing authorities on their own responsibility. There is, therefore, no information in the Department regarding such cases. The Kerry County Council have been asked to furnish the information sought by the Deputy in this case and it will be communicated to him when received.
