asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of new industrial enterprises started in (a) Limerick City, and (b) Limerick County, in each of the years 1947 to 1957, inclusive.

As the information requested by the Deputy takes the form of a statement, I propose, with the Ceann Comhairle's permission, to circulate it with the Official Report.
The statement includes only those undertakings which came to the notice of my Department. There may, of course, be others of which there is no official record.
Following is the statement:—
NUMBER of new industries and extensions to existing industrial undertakings which came to the notice of the Department of Industry and Commerce as having commenced production (a) in the County Borough of Limerick, and (b) in County Limerick excluding Limerick County Borough, in each of the years 1947 to 1957.
