Vol. 165 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Footwear Vouchers.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will ascertain, and state, the number of (a) free, and (b) part-payment footwear vouchers issued by the manager of the Cork Board of Assistance to recipients of home assistance in respect of the winter scheme 1956-57, and 1957-58, respectively.

Under the 1956-57 public assistance footwear scheme, the South Cork Board of Public Assistance issued 678 vouchers free of charge in respect of children of recipients of home assistance and 13,323 vouchers in respect of children of persons not otherwise in receipt of home assistance who were required to pay a contribution assessed by the public assistance authority.

It is not yet possible to give the corresponding figures for the 1957-58 scheme, which will not terminate until the 31st March. However, the figures up to the 14th February, 1958, for the classes in question, were 691 and 13,214 respectively.
