Vol. 165 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Central Asylum, Dundrum.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state with reference to the Central Asylum, Dundrum, County Dublin, the nature of the cooking facilities, the type of range used, when it was installed, whether it was new, its cost, the nature of the report of the Office of Public Works officials as to its efficiency, and the weekly, cost of fuel used in the range.

Apart from equipment used in the preparation of food, the cooking facilities consist of a range, a potato steamer, an electric water boiler and three tea urns. The range which is a four-oven heavy-duty type, using solid fuel, was installed new in 1952 and cost £430. The average weekly cost of fuel used in the range: is about £4 10s.

I am advised that, apart from minor operational difficulties in the early stages, the performance of the range has been satisfactory.
