Vol. 165 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wicklow Plantations.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the total area of plantations in County Wicklow, and the plantable reserve on 31st December, 1957.

The total area of State plantations in County Wicklow at the end of the last planting season was 38,173 acres. The plantable reserve on 31st December, 1957 (excluding the total area of 2,584 acres intended to be planted in the county in the current planting season) was 2,842 acres.

For how long will that carry?

It will enable us to continue planting at the increased planting rate, but more land will be required during the next three years.

Deputy Blowick did his work well again.

How are we getting on without him at all?

You are not getting on at all.

You will not clap us on the back about anything.

Deputy Blowick could not have done without the late Deputy Derrig, either.

Deputy Blowick did not want any help from anybody. He knew his job and he had no carping about it, like some of the boys over there. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Results count.
