asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the country of origin of the recording machines used by Radio Éireann staff for outside broadcasts; and whether suitable machines are manufactured or assembled within the State, and, if so, whether he will ensure that, when such machines are being purchased in the future, preference will be given to those manufactured, or assembled, in the State.

Recording machines of British and of German manufacture are used at present by Radio Éireann staff for outside broadcasts. No Irish manufacturer or assembler of machines of this kind has come to the notice of my Department.
