Vol. 167 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Little Island (Cork) Schools.

asked the Minister for Education if it is intended to proceed with the erection of the new schools in Little Island in the immediate future and, if so, when.

A suitable site has been offered for new national schools for boys and girls at Little Island, County Cork, and sketch plans for the new building have been prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works. My Department is in communication with the reverend manager in regard to the production of evidence of title to the site and certain other arrangements which are a necessary preliminary to the sanction of a grant towards the cost of the new schools. These arrangements are being dealt with as expeditiously as possible but it will necessarily take some further time to complete them. I am unable to say, at present, when work on the erection of the new schools will be commenced.
