asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Cork County Council and the Cork County Manager forwarded to his Department some five months ago a recommendation for a reorganisation of the engineering services in Cork County representing a saving of some £4,000 a year to the ratepayers of the county; and if he will now sanction these proposals, and state the reasons for the delay so far in sanctioning them.

The proposals referred to by the Deputy were submitted for approval in principle. They involved a number of features that called for close examination and discussion with the local authority. They have now been approved with certain modifications.
