Vol. 168 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Vaccination against Poliomyelitis in Dublin.

asked the Minister for Health if the medical officers for Dublin have recently been authorised to vaccinate children against poliomyelitis in groups other than those of families in the lower income levels; and, if so, whether any family income ceiling has been fixed for the guidance of medical officers.

As I indicated in my reply to a question by Deputy Norton on the 29th ultimo, health authorities have been authorised to make this service available to persons who are unable to provide it by their own industry or other lawful means, irrespective of whether or not they hold a medical card, so that vaccination will not be withheld where there is evidence that parents or guardians would be unable, by reason, for example, of illness or of the number of persons dependent on them, to provide the service without undue hardship.
