Vol. 168 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Premises of An Bord lascaigh Mhara.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the former premises of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara in Galway are still in the possession of the board; and if so, if he will state the annual amount paid in rent and rates for the premises, and the purpose for which they are being utilised.

I understand that An Bord Iascaigh Mhara hold rented premises at the Docks, Galway. The annual amount paid in rent and rates is about £172. The premises are utilised for general storage purposes.

Is it not a fact that when the new factory was built in Galway at a cost of over £50,000 sufficient storage was made available? Will the Minister say now why it is necessary to utilise the old building when the new factory is idle and empty?

That matter is under consideration by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara and I have no doubt that they will make an intelligent decision on the matter.

Such a decision is overdue.
