asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have any proceedings in process or pending for the acquisition of the lands of Mrs. Delia Collins, Lissyconnor, Dunmore, County Galway; and what steps, if any, have been taken to relieve congestion in that area since 1st December, 1954.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Galway Lands.
The Land Commission recently obtained possession of an area of 268 acres from this owner through resumption and migration. The preparation of a scheme for disposal of these lands with a view to relieving local congestion will be put in hands as soon as possible. Since 1954, apart from taking over the Collins' property, the Land Commission also investigated the possibility of acquiring other lands in this district but in view of the circumstances disclosed they decided to take no action in the matter. I need scarcely add that they will examine any further opportunities which may arise for securing land by means of acquisition or migration, for the relief of congestion in this locality.
