Vol. 170 No. 4

Committee on Finance. - Housing (Amendment) Bill, 1958—Report and Final Stages.

Question: "That the Bill be received for final consideration", put and agreed to.
Question proposed: "That the Bill do now pass".

Has the Minister considered the point I raised with regard to the increase in the valuation of houses where repairs and improvements are carried out without recourse to grants? I think I am right in saying that the valuation is liable to be increased, even though there may be a remission of rates.

Yes, the valuation may be increased, but there is remission of rates on the building, but it is under another Act and does not need to be dealt with here. It is under the Local Government (Temporary Valuation) Act.

We can discuss that another time.

Yes. It could be discussed, possibly, on the Estimate, if Deputies wish.

The Deputy can thank me for raising it for him.

Question put and agreed to.
