The scheme was discussed at a conference held in my Department on Friday last, the 11th instant, which was attended by the responsible assistant managers and their technical advisers. The information furnished to the Department up to the present has been insufficient. No progress can be made with detailed planning until the essential data requested by the Department are made available by the technical advisers of the local authorities. The assistant managers are fully aware of the urgency of the matter and a further conference on the technical aspects of the scheme has been in progress in the Department this morning.
