Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Census Statistics: Persons Over 65 Years of Age.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the number of persons recorded as being over 65 years of age in the State in each census of population since 1900.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement containing the desired information.

Following is the statement:—

NUMBER of persons aged 65 and over as returned at the Censuses of Population, 1901 to 1951, in Ireland, exclusive of the Six Counties.
