The number of men employed on local authority housing schemes was 2,439 at 31st August, 1958. The number employed at the corresponding date in each of the years 1954 to 1957 was as follows:—6,786 at 31st August, 1954; 5,981 at 31st August, 1955; 5,895 at 31st August, 1956 and 3,173 at 31st August, 1957.
