Vol. 171 No. 12

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order:—Nos. 1, 3 and 4. Questions will be taken at 3 p.m.

I understand Deputy McGilligan, who is Chairman of the Committee on the Law Reform (Personal Injuries) Bill, may not be here until 5 o'clock, so perhaps No. 1 could be ordered for 5 o'clock. The order should be, surely, Nos. 3, 4 and 1, No. 1 to be taken at one minute to 5 o'clock.

Nos. 3 and 4, and No. 1 at 5 o'clock.

Could the Tánaiste say what days the House will sit next week?

I understand certain discussions have been proceeding, but I do not know if they have produced any result.

They were concluded last night—Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week.

The Deputy can take it that the sittings will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week. Perhaps we may be able to avoid Friday.

When is it proposed to do anything with No. 7?

I could not answer that. As the Deputy is aware, certain difficulties have arisen on that matter.

The Parliamentary Secretary gave us a note of the business required before the end of the Session last night. One of the Bills was circulated this morning. The second has not yet been circulated. In view of the content of the Bill circulated this morning, I would ask the Tánaiste to consider seriously whether it is absolutely necessary to take the line laid down so far in relation to the Bill. A little consideration between this and next week might help spread the Christmas spirit.

So far as the Referendum Bill is concerned, I shall discuss the matter with the Minister to see what the situation is.

The other Bill I have not seen. I cannot say anything until I see it.
