Vol. 171 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lusk Remount Farm.

57.

asked the Minister for Lands what steps have been taken by the Land Commission to divide the Remount farm at Lusk amongst deserving local applicants since these lands were formerly used as a commons by residents of the parish before they were acquired by the British Government; and if he will state the terms and expiring date of the present letting.

Before proposals for the allocation of this estate can be formulated, the claims of a very large number of applicants must be carefully investigated. This investigation is proceeding as rapidly as possible. The lands are not let at present.

Tillage and grazing lettings for the 1958 season, made by public auction, expired on 1st November and 1st December last. Should it be found impracticable to have a scheme of division ready for operation early in the New Year, the lands will be advertised for letting by public auction for next season.
