asked the Minister for Lands whether his Department have as yet decided whether they will agree to sell or make available the land, secured by them from Mr. Hassett at Kilclooney, Kilmacthomas, for afforestation, to those applicants who have applied for it with the intention of using it for agricultural purposes; and, if not, whether he will have an early decision come to on the matter.

As the Deputy was informed last June in reply to a question in the same matter the Department has agreed to purchase an area of 54 acres at Kilclooney from Mr. John Hassett. The investigations into title to which I referred are still in progress and accordingly the Department has not yet taken formal possession of the lands. When acquisition of the lands has been completed the applications received for portion of the lands will be duly considered.
