Vol. 172 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trade with Hong Kong.

6.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the main items and volume of imports from and exports to Hong Kong for the years 1955 to date.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the total value of imports originating in Hong Kong and the total value of domestic exports and of re-exports sent to that destination in the years 1955, 1956, 1957 and in the period January-October, 1958. In addition the statement shows the value of the principal items imported and exported in each period. It is not possible, in this instance, to value the trade at constant prices and so produce estimates of the changes in its volume.

Following is the statement:—
