Vol. 173 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Presidential Election.

23.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to state on what date the Presidential election will be held.

24.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state on what date he proposes to make the Order pursuant to the provisions of Section 6 of the Presidential Elections Act, 1937, appointing the dates relating to the forthcoming Presidential election.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 23 and 24 together. The Order appointing the days for nomination and polling at the forthcoming Presidential election cannot be made before the 25th April. I am not in a position to say precisely when the Order will be made or what days will be fixed. It is likely however that the last day for nominations will be fixed for some day about the middle of May and the polling day in the second or third week in June.
