Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state separately in respect of each county council for each of the years ended 1956, 1957 and 1958 the amount of wages and salaries paid by each county council, and the total wages and salaries paid in each year.

Mr. Blaney

The amount of wages and salaries paid by each county council in respect of the calendar year 1956 and the financial year 1957-58 is set out in the following statement. Final figures in respect of the year 1958-59 are not available but the statement shows the estimated expenditure in respect of that year.

Following is the statement:—
