Vol. 174 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Market Prospects for Onions.

8.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the probable price and the market prospects for onions grown during the current season.

As the importation of onions is not permitted when home supplies are sufficient to meet the demand, growers have an assured outlet for onions marketed in good condition. The price of onions is not officially controlled and the return to the grower will therefore depend on supply and demand.
