Vol. 174 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Bonus Scheme in Waterford.

11.

asked the Minister for Lands why the bonus scheme of the Forestry Division has not applied to forestry workers in Waterford County; and when it will be applied.

The Incentive Bonus Scheme for forestry workers has to be applied gradually. Each forest centre must be treated as a separate unit for the purposes of application, proper work values for the work actually in hands at each centre having been first established by the application of work study techniques. Only in this way can it be ensured that the scheme is operated fairly from the outset.

It is expected that application of the scheme to the forests in Co. Waterford will commence within the next month. It is hoped that the scheme will be in operation at all forests in the county in about 6-8 months' time.
