asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the number of migrants settled by the Land Commission this spring, and (b) the number of landholders in each county who were offered migration but refused.
Ceisteanna—Questions (Resumed). - Settlement of Migrants.
The number of migrants settled by the Land Commission during the year ending 31st March last was 129.
As regards the second part of the Question records are not kept of tentative dealings with all potential migrants and the detailed information sought is not, therefore, available. Perhaps it may meet the Deputy's requirements if I furnish him with the number of tenants in each county who, following prior approval for migration, were offered fully-equipped exchange holdings this Spring and refused to migrate. This information is set out in a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.
