The merchandise trade Deficit, or excess of imports over exports, including re-exports, for the five months ended 31st May, 1956, was £43,467,809; for the five months ended 31st May, 1957, it was £24,783,781, and for the five months ended 31st May, 1958, it was £30,096,106. Figures for the period to 31st May, 1959, are not yet available but provisional figures are expected to be ready during the course of the next week.
