Vol. 176 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kealkill (Cork) Sub-Postmaster.

14.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the vacancy of sub-postmaster at the Kealkill, County Cork, post office has been filled, and, if so, if he will state the name and address of the appointee, and on whose recommendation he was appointed; and if he will state the number of applicants; and whether an inquiry was held into the financial standing of the different applicants.

Mr. Patrick Murphy, Breenybeg, Kealkill, has been appointed Sub-Postmaster of Kealkill Sub-Post Office. There were five applications for the post and these were examined by a Departmental Selection Board. It would be contrary to practice to disclose the nature of the recommendation made by the Board. The usual inquiries were made about the financial standing of the applicants.
