The amount outstanding in respect of "Other Borrowings" on 30th September, 1959, was £8,187,000. The bodies from which these borrowings were made were the Electricity Supply Board, the Hospitals Trust Board, Córas Iompair Eireann and the Central Bank of Ireland. The borrowing from the Central Bank, which amounted to £1,337,000, was made under section 3 (7) of the Bretton Woods Agreements Act, 1957, and arose out of an increase in this country's gold subscription to the International Monetary Fund.
