Vol. 177 No. 1

Written Answers. - Road Workers' Wages.

114.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state separately in respect of each county council and each urban district council as regards road workers' wages (1) the amount of increase sanctioned by his Department this year, (2) the operative date, and (3) the current rate of wages.

The current rates of wages of county council road workers and the amount and operative date of such increases as have been sanctioned since 1st January, 1959, are set out in the following statement.

As regards the rates of wages of road workers employed by urban district councils the information requested by the Deputy is not available in my Department as these rates are determined by the local authorities by reference to the wages paid locally in comparable employment and the wage rates as so determined are not subject to my sanction.

Following is the statement:—
