Vol. 177 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Market Value of Reactor Cattle.

18.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what is meant by the market value which is being paid for reactors by his Department; and whether farmers are to be at any loss in the replacing of their stock.

Market value is defined in Section 6 of the Diseases of Animals (Bovine Tuberculosis) Act, 1957.

As regards the second part of the Question, no loss should arise in view of the ample compensation terms.

Is the Minister aware of the report that appeared in some newspaper recently that there is a racket in this market and would he investigate it?

I usually see most reports that appear in the Press, daily and otherwise——

Will the Minister investigate the report?

We investigate everything.

All right: I shall give the Minister a few cases.
